How Closure works:
Before the procedure, patients are given an I. V. sedative and local anesthesia at the incision site. Dr. Khash Salartash will make a small (less than 1cm) incision or puncture where he will position the Closure catheter into the vein that is diseased.
The catheter omits radio frequency energy to the vein and as Dr. Salartash withdraws the catheter slowly, the vein is closed due to the collagen in the vein wall shrinking. Once the vein is closed, the deep venous system takes over supplying blood to the lower extremities.

The venous system is made up of a network of veins, including:
With Closure, patients are walking immediately following the procedure, and patients typically resume normal activities within one day. Patients report feeling little, if any pain after surgery. Relief of symptoms such as pain, leg heaviness and fatigue occur almost immediately. Most patients resume work or normal activities within 2 days following Closure.
