Needle Aspiration - This is a safe and simple procedure that is performed under ultra sound. A small long needle is used to enter the breast penetrating the mass or cyst. A sample is then aspirated or removed and sent to a pathologist for typing.

Ultra sonogram - This study will make a determination between cysts and solid masses in the breast. You only require ultrasound if no aspiration has been performed.

Biopsy - Either a fine needle biopsy, large needle biopsy, small excision or incision of a breast mass under anesthesia are some choices when determining a definitive diagnosis of breast masses.
